HealeyGrisham uses humor to support Spay/Neuter ordinance

Dallas, TX, June 11, 2008 – Dallas-based HealeyGrisham uses comic images to help stray, homeless and abandoned animals.

"Will They Be Faithful?" is the latest effort of Art director Janet Healey and photographer Joe Grisham, who will once again hang a banner supporting animal welfare on their historic downtown building. The banner features two dogs in wedding attire. The caption reads "Will They Be Faithful? Dogs will be dogs. Humans should be humane. Make Spay/Neuter Mandatory." Also included is the website for Dallas Animal Advocates www.dallasanimaladvocates.org.

Dallas euthanizes more than 29,000 animals annually. Healey and Grisham’s banner reflects their desire to reduce that number by supporting mandatory spay and neuter. This is one part of the proposed ordinance changes to the city of Dallas’ Animal Code. The Dallas City Council will vote on the ordinance June 25, 2008.

“We strongly support efforts to make spay/neuter mandatory,” Grisham said. "Dallas has limited space and resources combined with too many animals. Let's stop bringing unwanted animals into the world."

The banner will be displayed on the side of HealeyGrisham’s studio located at 2036 Commerce Street between Harwood Street and Pearl Expressway beginning Friday, June 13, 2008. (Weather permitting.) More than 13,000 vehicles pass the historic building daily, according to city of Dallas records.

The image was created to educate the public about spay and neuter issues, a cause close to the husband-and-wife team’s hearts. Their extensive efforts to support animal welfare have included campaigns for Metroplex Animal Coalition, Dallas Animal Services and The SPCA of Texas’ current “Find your Best Friend” bus campaign.
